Griffin Men of Action is a community organization dedicated to help resolve issues in Griffin, Spalding County and the school system.

“We are a group of men who want to improve the community,” Zachery Holmes said.  “We are not a group that just casts blame without bringing a solution.”

Griffin Men of Action first met with Griffin-Spalding County School System Superintendent Keith Simmons and GSCS District Family and Community Engagement Specialist Melinda Owens to discuss issues that need to be addressed within the school system, such as improving parental engagement and beginning a mentoring program.

The group recently met with members of the Spalding County Collaborative to learn about beginning a mentoring program in GSCS schools.

“The group’s aim is to complete the vetting process to become mentors in our schools while building relationships to change the course of some child’s life,” Holmes said.

The group has also met with Griffin City Manager Jessica O’Connor and Griffin Mayor Doug Hollberg to discuss issues within the city that the group could let bring about a solution.

Griffin Men of Action meets at noon each Thursday at Breakthrough Deliverance Church located at 615 N. 9th Street in Griffin.  Those interested in joining the group may contact Holmes at 404-391-7066.
