I am Kim Stephens RN BSN employed by Spalding Regional Hospital as the Community Outreach Coordinator. I also work closely with the Spalding Collaborative where I hold the title of Healthy Children Strategy Chair. The Healthy Children team has several initiatives under their umbrella. One is low birth weight, resource bags for new moms, and Prevent Child Abuse which includes child sexual abuse. I am reaching out to you because I feel we have a great opportunity that I feel may meet some of your needs as a child care provider and will also help us meet some of our goals. Our goal is to reach 5% of our population or 2,393 individuals (which is referred to as the tipping point) in training on a prevention program for sexual abuse prevention called Stewards of Children. Spalding County currently has 1,187 people trained in Stewards of Children. This number makes us at 49.6 % of our goal. I hope I have not lost you to this point. We have an opportunity to provide you and your staff FREE given that you are licensed through DECAL. Benefits to you are:
__ The Stewards of Children training has been approved for 2 professional development hours by Bright from the Start, and provides high quality, affordable training for all levels of expertise in the field.
__Many schools acknowledge that their staff has been disappointed with the quality of other sexual abuse prevention education. The Stewards of Children training has been evaluated and shown to change knowledge, attitude, and behaviors.
